In 2010 we decided to continue on our quest to find the best hashish and the landraces it comes from, this time in Morocco.
The large majority of the hashish produced worldwide (up to 70% of the total annual world production) comes from a relatively small mountain region in the North of Morocco,
In Dutch coffeeshops the sales of Moroccan hashish are one of the backbones of the industry, already since the 1970s.
During our travels in the Rif region, we witnessed how the farming cycle linked to hashish production is an integral part of the rural lifestyle of the Berbers, and how it dictates the rhythm of life and the rhythm of work. This trip showed once more that cannabis is the crop that helps the poorest people of the planet in their quest to survive, and to improve their quality of life.
